Academic Itinerary

Barcelona, 1981.

Probably, music was one of my worst subjects at primary school, until I understood the meaning of such an abstract stuff. Right after changing my wiew about music I began to study guitar at Artmusic academy in 1994, where a little bit later, I discovered the electric bass.

In 1999 I began to study at Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz de Barcelona Fundació Conservatori del Liceu, a pseudo-branch of Berklee School of Music. In adition to the electric bass, I also took lessons, among many others, of modern harmony, combos and styles of modern music, arrangments and studio recording. I also had Horacio fumero as an acoustic bass teacher. I finished  in 2002.

In 2003 I was accepted at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) where I finished in 2007. I had Pep Perez Cucurella and Gary Willis as electric bass teachers and Horacio Fumero as acoustic bass.

In autumn 2007 and 2009 I spent some time in NYC, where I took lessons from Wayne Krantz, Ben Monder, Janek Gwizdala and Ben Street and I also played live in a few jazz clubs like Cleopatra’s Needle, Café Royale or Smalls Bar.

For all this years I’ve been assiting to Master Classes by: Scott Henderson, Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman, Heynz Van der Gein, Perico Sambeat, Bill McHenry, Ari Hoenig, Jesse Van Ruler, David Schnitter, Chuck Rainey, Matthew Garrison, Doug Wimbish, Stu Hamm, Steve Bailey, Jimmy Earl, Michel Camilo, Anthony Jackson y Horacio “el Negro” Hernández, Carles Benavent, Jorge Pardo and Tino di Geraldo.
